Reflection on Infocomm Studies

(i)     10 learning points on " The internet and the World Wide Web" :

1. History of Internet: 1969: Four host nodes; 1984: More than 1000 host nodes; Today: More than 200 million host nodes.
2. Ways to access the internet: ISP,OSP, wireless internet service provider. IP address: Number that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to the internet.
3. What is a blog? A blog is a regularly updated journal format to reflect the interests, opinions, and personalities of the authors and sometimes site visitors.

4. What is a entertainment website? A entertainment website is a website offering an interactive and engaging environment featuring all types of entertainment including music,video,sports,games,and more.
5. What is an educational website? An educational website is a website which offers avenues for formal and informal teaching and learning.
6. What is an business/marketing website? It contains contents that promote products or services. Websites such as Ebay also allows people to purchase products online. 
7. What is an informational website? An informational website that contains factual information and is created by organizations and government agencies.
8. What is netiquette? Netiquette is actually the code of propitiate rules or behaviors that users should follow while on the net. The Golden Rule also applies here: TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO TREAT YOU!

9. What is instant messaging? Instant messaging is a real time internet communications service that notifies you when one or more people are online and allows them to exchange messages or files.
10. What is a chat? Chat is a real-time typed conversation that takes place on a computer. The chat room is also a location on servers that permits users to discuss topics of interest and communicate. 
 
   







  (ii) 5 Learning Point on the Web 2.0

1. What is a Web 2.0 ? 
A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators  of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users (consumers) are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them. 2. What are some examples of Web 2.0?
Some examples of Web 2.0 are social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services, web applications, mashups and folksonomies.".  

3. Web 2.0 is different as there is a move away from static engine, and use of the search engine became more frequent and dynamic.
 
 4. In Web 2.0, the web master shares the responsibility with his internet audience for keeping the website formative and engaging. 
 
5. The modern website is transforming from a simple place to store information to a dynamic place for people to regularly gather around.
